Item is new in the package. This is a VERY RARE item, especially to be found unused. Without being able to find the exact year of production through research, Corningware confirmed that the box design is late 1970 to early 1980. Due to the age, I opened the box to ensure that all pieces were present and intact. It was repacked with all cardboard inserts to stay safe in transit. This listing includes all pieces shown in the images, including all paperwork, candle holders, wicks, Lisa and of course the dishes. Please review all images, as you will receive this exact item. Blue Cornflower “A” Series. You are viewing a 2 liter CorningWare. Casserole/roaster and Pyrex lid from the very first Blue Cornflower “A” Series, which began in 1971. 9.75 x 9.75 x 2.0. This is the casserole/roaster alone. With the lid the overall height is 5.0 inches. Material (Casserole/Roaster): Glass-Ceramic i. Pyroceram, which is resistant to thermal shock or rapid changes in the temperature. Material (Lid): Pyrex Glass. Since I have always been afraid to damage the piece; it has been used less than a dozen times in the 47 years I have owned it. It is in near mint condition. This casserole has never been washed in an automatic dishwasher. There are no scratches, cracks, or chips on either piece except underneath on the very bottom of the casserole which has small scratches from sliding in and out of the oven. Great care will be taken to pack this item so it arrives safely at your location. These CorningWare pieces have been stored in a smoke-free environment and sealed away from pets. Vintage CorningWare 2 1/2 Quart Blue Cornflower Casserole Dish w/Lid P-2-1/2-B USA. CorningWare was once an everyday staple for many families and is now a pretty hot collectible item of kitchen ware. The opaque dishes with cute designs on the sides were first made in Corning, New York, in the 1950s a true post-war invention for the modern family. By the 1960’s a lot of family households had acquired this kitchen ware with this design. CorningWare is extremely accommodating in the kitchen. You can take it out of the refrigerator, into the oven, straight to the table and back again. It is safe in the microwave, convection and conventional ovens, freezer, refrigerator and dishwasher. It is exceptionally durable and can be handed down for generations. First generation rare vintage blue corningware cornflower casserole dish from the 1960’s. This was my grandmothers dish. Nice looking dish with lid in nice condition for its age. Please see pictures as they are part of the description. Piece will come packaged nicely. Smoke and pet free home.
