RARE CORNINGWARE : CorningWare originated in 1958 in Corning, N. The glass cookware was shopped to homemakers as “oven-to-table service” that could even be used directly on the stovetop. The first pattern was cornflower blue – petite blue posies on a solid white background – which was produced for 30 years. Who dosen’t want to own the best cookware in the world! Very sought – after these days and are dissapearing quite quickly. A must own for all you serious mom, dad or grandma chefs out there. Very attractive dish from the oven to your table. It never fails to bring the best flavors out of cooking. Corning Ware Blue Cornflower 2 1/2 qt. Casserole Set with Lid. Condition is used but in excellent condition.. Made of the strongest ceramic. Thats why they last year after year. No cracks or chips. Has original Pyrex glass lid which is stamped on lid. 8.5 inches W x 4 inches deep. Was and still is one of the best for baking your favorite dish. This 2 1/2 quart P- 1/2 B on bottom of casserole dish in very clear stamp with no fading shows that it wasn’t used as much over the years and condition its in and is one of the rarest ones around. All offers will be considered. Vintage Blue Corn Flower Corning Ware. With photos of stamp marks by year. Year appears above photos on site. Lid has a large chip near edge. And a small chip on inner rim. Lid Marked 1-B, lid seems to fit both dishes, though it fits one slightly better. Please view photos for details and condition. The original run of Blue Cornflower Corning Ware was made of Pyroceram, NASA graded synthetic glass-ceramic. Will include two vintage petite pans free! Along with the two above mentioned dishes. In the early 2000s, the company replaced Pyroceram with stoneware. Stoneware, while it has its own merits, isn’t nearly as durable or multifaceted as Pyroceram. Put a stoneware dish under a broiler or in a freezer, and you will have a big mess. CorningWare originated in 1958 in Corning, N. The glass cookware was marketed to homemakers as “oven-to-table service” which could also be used directly on the stovetop. Reheat frozen leftovers in the oven (or microwave) without thawing first. Saute onions, mushrooms or whatever on the stove top on medium-high – or high – heat. Soak my casseroles in water with dish liquid and clean off any stuck-on food easily. Store food in the freezer. Because all my dishes have tight-fitting glass lids.
