Corning Ware, A-3-B, 3 quart, range-Oven- Microware, Corning NY. Pattern known as’Country Cornflower. PYREX Lid, P-9C 1, 26. Stopped making in late 1970’s. Described as’Opel Wear. Fun fact: US Army commissioned Corning to make glass dishes durable enough that they could be thrown against the wall without breaking. Such Vintage and of real quality. Why is Pyrex a collectable? Increased rarity of what used to be ubiquitous. Pyrex ceased production of its colorware in the mid- 1980’s. Huge variety of styles with over 170 patterns. Why are some so expensive? Today’s prices varies on condition, pattern and accompaniment. Why are consumers willing to pay so much for an aesthetic? Some folks gladly pay for eclectic home wares for the same reason other folks pay for old broken muscle cars to restore. Why is yours so special?
