The design is on two sides of the pot. The pot is white. The lid is transparent. The Saucepan Base Pot is also known as a Casserole Pan, Saucepot, and other names. The Cover is the Glass Lid with a Fin/Wedge Handle. The Glass Lid that comes with this Pot may or may not be original to this Pot. However it has been used by me over the years with it. I cooked with this item personally on the stove top, in the oven, and in the refrigerator (cold process cheesecakes). In North America and Europe the cornflower is seen to represent happy times, love, and forthcoming romance. Makes one realize the way is through the stomach. Specifically the Blue Cornflower represents a symbol of freedom, vastness, courage and hope. The Cornflower was once considered very common and was somewhat of a “weed” that infiltrated agriculture fields. However with the invention of modern cultivation, the cornflower is an endangered plant. Knowing this trivial makes it an even more impressive stove to table service item. Take the time to do some more research, some of it is even more fascinating. The Glass Lid was used as a strainer and has chips in it. Description will say how many and size. There may be additional ones that are too tiny to see or feel. The Pot has normal marks from decades of loving use. The ” strainer effect :” Some people use the lid as a strainer to pour off hot water or other liquids, the steam comes back at them and the drop the lid into the sink and sometimes the contents too. It’s the problem of guests helping in the kitchen. Well intentioned but they are such a strain. CHIPS ON GLASS LID. There are 3 chips on the glass lid. One small 5 mm long on the outer rim edge at the seam. There are two on the inner rim that sits in the pot. One of them is 1 cm long. The other is the largest chip of them all, That one is big & deep and about 1 inch long. On Glass Lid edge is PYREX ®. Hallmark is Blue Ink on Bottom. CORNING WARE ® 1¾ QT. Base Pot outside dimensions measure approximately 8¾ inches wide from outside edge of handles by 7 1/8 inches outside top edges (the opposite sides of the handles) by 3¼ inches from tabletop to top of outside edge of handle. The Base Pot and Glass Lid weighs together about 3 pounds and 1.8 ounces. The Base Pot by itself weighs about 2 pounds and 0.8 ounces. The Glass Lid by itself about 1 pound and 1.1 ounces. Over the decades it is believed that there have been ¾ of a billion pieces made (750 million).
